Get the Lowdown On Upcoming 2017 Music Festivals!

Some of our favorite music festivals (Ultra, Coachella, Stagecoach, Bottlerock, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo and any others that have won your heart this year) are sadly just dust in the wind...literally, if you decided to ‘break the bank’ and attend Coachella #DustBowl. HOWEVER, festival season is not over! We have selected five of the most popular upcoming music festivals to give you the rundown on. It is time to gather all of your festival essentials and go bask in the world that is music, art, food and drinks!

1.) Lollapalooza:

WHEN: August 3-6
WHERE: Grant Park, Chicago, Illinois

Lollapalooza is one of the biggest festivals in North America featuring over 130 performances! Headlining this year will be: Chance The Rapper, The Killers, Lorde, Blink-182, DJ Snake, Justice, Cage The Elephant, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Migos and the list keeps...on...going. After inspecting the lineup, The Wurrly Team has unfortunately come down with a serious case of #FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). This festival is more than just great music, it is a cultural experience. Make sure you and your ‘festie besties’ refuel at some of the most popular food vendors in Chicago that will be onsite during the event. Shout out to all of my #Foodies!  Okay, so the festival is right around the corner and your babysitter just so happens to have tickets as well...fear not! There is a magical place within the grounds where you can drop your children off from 11 AM - 7 PM EACH day, AKA: Kidzapalooza. It’s genius, yes, but do not forget to pick them up! Download the Lollapalooza app on your smartphone to ensure you have your artist lineup in order.  You can also use it to navigate through Grant Park. If you are unable to make it to the festival and have also been diagnosed with a serious case of #FOMO, you can live steam the festival on the LollapaloozaLiveStream or listen to all the performances on the LollapalozaiHeartRadio.

2.) OUTSIDE LANDS:

WHEN: August 11-13
WHERE: Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California

Outside Lands is an unparalleled music festival that showcases quality food, wine, craft beer, art installations, and unique entertainment that you will not witness at any other festival. Outside Lands brings a diverse set of performers in an enchanted forest-like setting. It’s quite alluring isn’t it? Headlining this year will be Metallica, The Who, Gorillaz, A Tribe Called Quest, Alt-J, Queens of the Stone Age, Empire of the Sun, Solange, SchoolBoy Q, Rebelution, Keytranada, Louis The Child and more. If you are over 21...you can taste more than 120 wines and then go inhale an unhealthy amount of cheeses next door. Outside Lands has partnered with over 50 Bay Area restaurants to make your #Refueling experience worth your time and most importantly, your money. You can catch live cooking shows at the GastroMagic stage and if your friends are boring, and you need a laugh, there will be standup comedy at the Barbary tent. Since Outside Lands is pretty much located in a forest, we are glad they chose to #GoGreen. Refillable water stations will be available with the intention of keeping everyone from buying too much bottled water. Finally, as much as some of us want to deny summertime is coming to an end, Outside Lands WILL shove it in your face. It’s “Fogust” in San Francisco during this event so dress accordingly! Honestly, bundling up can be much more desirable than trying to survive a festival #DustBowl!

3.) Budweiser Made In America:

WHEN: September 2-3
WHERE: Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The 6th annual “Budweiser Made in America” Music Festival, co produced by Live Nation and Roc Nation (JAY-Z’s company), is the place to be Labor Day Weekend, 2017. It is no secret that Philadelphia is well-practiced when it comes to producing major events. Headlining this year will be: JAY Z, J. Cole, The Chainsmokers, Kaskade, Marshmello, Migos, Solange, Run the Jewels, Little Dragon, 21 Savage, Sampha, Cash Cash, R3hab, Pusha T, and Vic Mensa. But, let’s switch it up a bit. Rather than unveiling the obvious and disclosing all of the entertainment Made In America has to offer, we would like to highlight the primary goal of the festival. This year's concert will benefit both the ACLU of Pennsylvania and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. These two organizations will invest in initiatives that promote youth success and family stability in order to terminate intergenerational poverty in the Greater Philadelphia area. The revenue generated from the festival will be used to focus on positively changing the education, income and health of the most unprotected citizens in these regions. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, they are dedicated to listening to the voice of the community. United Way identifies the underlying causes of the most significant local issues, develops strategies, pulls together financial and human resources to address them, then measures the results. The ACLU of Pennsylvania is a branch of the American Civil Liberties Union. They defend the rights of women and minorities, workers, students, immigrants, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and any others who have seen bias or have had their constitutional rights threatened. For those who are unable to make it to this exciting yet progressive event, you can live stream the festival on Tidal.com!

4.) Kaaboo:

WHEN: September 15-17
WHERE: Del Mar/San Diego, California

Just like beautiful San Diego, Kaaboo is a class act. Bryon Gordon, the creator of the festival, aimed to set it apart from the rest. Kaaboo is essentially your favorite aspects of all the popular music festivals mixed into one! Headlining this year will be: Red Hot Chilli Peppers, P!ink, Muse, Jane’s Addiction, Ice Cube, Logic, Machine Gun Kelly, David Guetta, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Jason Derulo and Alanis Morissette. There will be over 80 performances throughout the weekend. Although music is always the main focus of any music festival, Kaaboo offers other luxurious amenities. One of which, are you ready for this? Are REAL restrooms! Yes, there will not be a porta potty in sight at this event #Spoiled. This festival was designed to appeal to all “five of your senses.” Other entertainment includes hilarious comedy, inspiring contemporary art, gourmet cuisine, craft libations and personal indulgences such as shaded lounge areas, make up stations for the ladies and even shoulder massages! This particular festival is an adult escape so you will not catch too many adolescents running rampant across the grounds. Kaaboo is all about representing comfort, quality and good times. It doesn't get much better than that!

5.) Austin City Limits:

WHEN: October 6-8 AND 13-15
WHERE: Zilker Park, Austin, TX

Over the course of TWO weekends, ACL Fest will be hosting more than 140 bands who will be performing on EIGHT different stages around the park. Headlining this year will be: Jay-Z, Martin Garrix, The XX, Ryan Adams, Solange, Foster The People, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Chance The Rapper, Ice Cube, Glass Animals, The Killers, Gorillaz, and Tove Lo. Here at Wurrly, we strongly believe a production this extravagant should definitely be open to the public for two weekends instead of one. Now, let’s dig into the food. Austin, Texas is notorious for delicious food and the ACL Fest isn’t any different. To refuel, you are going to want to check out the ACL Eats Food Court. Here, you will find the most delectable festival food, drinks and sweets from Austin and the neighboring area's beloved restaurants. In between sets, it is extremely important to keep yourself entertained. Feeling thirsty? Head to the Barton Springs Beer Hall and grab a cold one. Feel like tapping into your inner artist? Roam the grounds and take trendy photos with the enormous art installations and post them to social media! Lost your cowboy hat and boots the very first night? The Art Market has local, national and world-recognized artisans selling fascinating goods to all ACL attendees. Need an escape from the crowds? Take the fam to Austin Kiddie Limits (clever, aren't they?) to relax and enjoy creative and informative activities with your children. Start em’ early! Children of all ages can dance their little hearts out and sing along to the live music. Austin Kiddie Limits is open from 11AM-7PM daily and this year they have added a Family Friendly Entrance! Not only is ACL Fest family oriented but they CARE. Each year the festival provides an opportunity for select organizations to gain support from thousands of enthusiastic ACL fans. Enjoy an incredible, musical experience and up your karma all in the same weekend!

That’s the 411 on The Wurrly Team’s top five upcoming music festivals for 2017.
