Demi Lovato's New Documentary, "Simply Complicated"
At one point or another, everyone has fantasized about what it would be like to live the life of one of their favorite rockstars (well... we are living like rockstars everyday over here at Wurrly) BUT, as many famous celebrities have shared, behind all that glitz and glamour lies a real person, just like you and I. It is easy to assume a celebrities happiness based off of what they display in the media. Anyone can smile for a picture or put on an act for the camera but that doesn't necessarily mean it is authentic.
Demi Lovato (one of my favorite artists of this generation) released her new Youtube documentary Simply Complicated last Tuesday, October 17th and it is just that...authentic. The documentary tracks 7 months of Demi’s life as she records her latest album “Tell Me You Love Me” (side note: if you have not heard it yet, I highly suggest you give it a listen NOW because in my opinion, it is one of her best projects thus far). You will also get to see Demi open up about her battles and her victories. She emits such honesty as she takes us through her past and brings us to where she is presently.
Nadine Levitt (the founder of Wurrly and a performer herself) explains...
"It’s refreshing to see an artist showing themselves as a human being and a work in progress rather than a perfect, polished-up finished product. In this generation, everyone likes to display their “best life” on social media but that is impossible to maintain 24/7 - no one rolls out of bed looking looking picture perfect!! In the real world we go through trials and tribulations, and it’s okay to have flaws. Demi’s documentary does a wonderful job of humanizing her so that you want to root for her as if she were your best friend.”
There are times during the documentary that Demi is shown very organically, without makeup and looking vulnerable on camera, sharing some of her deepest secrets. Simply Complicated provides a great message to its viewers, it is okay to be imperfect.
